Fourth Annual Barry Spiegelman Memorial Golf Classic and Reception & Fundraiser Set Fundraising Record

Events raise more than $50,000; Net proceeds to benefit Art of the Brain in support of UCLA’s Neuro-oncology program

DALLAS (April 18, 2011) -- The Beryl Companies announced today that it raised more than $50,000 at the 4th Annual Barry Spiegelman Memorial Golf Classic and Reception & Fundraiser to support brain cancer research. Net proceeds from the events will go to Art of the Brain, which supports brain cancer research at UCLA’s Neuro-Oncology program. The annual events are held in memory of Beryl co-founder Barry Spiegelman, who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2005.

“Each year, the tournament and fundraiser brings greater awareness of brain cancer research to the Dallas/Fort Worth area,” said Paul Spiegelman, founder and CEO of The Beryl Companies. “The surrounding communities gave generously through participation, donations and sponsorships.” Spiegelman continued, “This event is a celebration of my brother’s life and supports those who fight brain cancer and the hope they have because of important research conducted to find a cure.”

The Golf Classic was held April 12, 2011 at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, Tex. The Reception & Fundraiser event was held immediately following the tournament at the Hilton Southlake Hotel in Southlake, Tex.

Donations can still be made at the tournament website at www.barryspiegelmanmemorial.com. For more information about Art of the Brain and UCLA’s neuro-oncology department, visit www.artofthebrain.org.
